    Hello,

I am excited to see everyone! I have been in IASFAA for several years and the conference is always a great experience.

I love to explore my own backyard - by gardening both flower and vegetable, although not always with the greatest success.  Although that may be half the fun, I am often found out puttering in the yard with my dog.

Also enjoy exploring my Idaho - backyard by camping in the many wonderful spots thru out our great state.  There are always new places to check out and hear about.  The last few years my husband (Bob) and I have been expanding our dutch oven skills and are always looking for a recipe to try.

When the weather is cold I hide in my sewing room and try to be a quilter or seamstress but both of those titles are a work in progress.

This is terrific to hear from so many of you on here!  I appreciate that we get to connect this way...and some of you people are just downright interesting folks! :)

I encourage you to continue connecting with each other (replies to other are ok!) and use this for whatever you like.  You "System" types even get your own Forum to collaborate and commiserate.  I hope you'll use it.

If there is any other type of Forum you'd like to see or feel more comfortable using, please let us know and we can consider setting one up.  These are not private but they are moderated so use them accordingly.

    Hello fellow financial aid friends!

I was a stay at home mom and NNU Alumni when the market crashed in 2008 forcing me to go back to work.  The one and only place I applied to work was NNU and delighted when they hired me!  I have been here ever since and will probably be for at LEAST another 4 more years since I have a senior in high school this year.  I certainly don't get bored doing this job!  And as someone else has already mentioned, I really do think financial aid people really are the most kind hearted.  What a great bunch I have to work with.

We are in the process of remodeling a small farmhouse and about ready to move into it in a few weeks.  YAHOO!!  Outside of work, my favorite activities are reading, antiquing and quilting.  I just learned how to quilt this year and started a quilt blog called Color, Creating, and Quilting to document my journey.   If you enjoy quilting at all, I would love to have you stop by and visit!

    Hello!

Coming up on two years as a Financial Aid Counselor at Boise State, I love the opportunity to interact and help students and their families. While I am from the Boise area, I went to Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA for my undergraduate degree and spent time in Seattle, WA working for University of Washington.

I'm an avid Idaho enthusiast... I've spent my summer camping, rafting, hiking and fishing. I have a new 4 month old puppy who is learning to swim in the river and loves to "help" out with all my DIY projects around the house.

Looking forward to seeing you all in October,

    Ally

    Hi!

I'm looking forward to my first IASFAA conference this fall. I've worked in financial aid for almost three years at Boise State, and I appreciate that there is always more to learn!

Some of the most caring and compassionate people I have met are working in financial aid at Boise State, and I'm sure all IASFAA members are just as kind and caring. I look forward to meeting you all.

    Hi everyone!

I'm a 34 year old higher education lifer. I've been in financial aid going on six years now but I've worked in a lot of capacities in higher education as a work study student, a classified staff member, a professional staff member and even as a statewide higher education policy analyst.

I've been at Boise State since 2014.

Hello everyone in financial aid land.

I look forward to seeing everyone at this year's conference.  It is always fun to see those from other parts of the state that we don't get to associate with very often.

After a few years now in financial aid, I have come to realize it is all new.  It seems that if you think you are comfortable with what the answer to a question is, that answer will change with the next round of regulations.  When I began in financial aid, we would talk about how difficult the process was becoming.  If only we knew then what it was going to be like now, we may have jumped ship.  I have to chuckle when I see parents bringing their children to college now that remember the regulations when they were students and don't understand why the same rules don't apply now.  Sad thing is I may have been the one helping them with their financial aid and am now doing their children's and soon possibly their grandchildren's financial aid.

    Hello everyone!

I am the Scholarship & Veterans Coordinator in the Financial Aid Office at Lewis-Clark State College. I graduated from LCSC in May of 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Management Accounting. I began working in my current position in August of 2013, which means I’ve been here for three years now! Time goes by so fast.

In the little free time I have, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 16 month old son, Brayden, traveling, being outdoors, watching movies, and doing Pinterest projects. Brayden just started walking a few weeks ago, and it’s been crazy chasing him around! Fun, but crazy :)

I look forward to meeting everyone at the conference!

    Hello all,

I recently became a financial aid officer for the graduate and adult programs here at NNU. Before that, I spent the last year as the loan specialist/office manager. That gives me a whopping 14 months in financial aid!

I graduated from NNU in 2013 with a degree in English, and then went to work in banking (I know, that doesn’t add up). I was lucky enough to get on with the great people here shortly after, and I look forward to many more days of fun-having while we work.

I am married to a lovely lady, and we just welcomed our first little kiddo (a girl!). In our free time we play a lot of sports, specifically volleyball, basketball, and ultimate Frisbee. I also enjoy watching sports (go Hawks!).

This will be my second IASFAA Conference and I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can from my fellow ‘Financial Aid-ians’!

Greetings to all my IASFAA friends!  I am so looking forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming conference. Until then, I thought I would give you a little update on what has been happening in my world.  My wonderful wife of 441 months retired at the end of this past school year.  Brenda is enjoying working with her new dog, "Taz" and spending time with our grandchildren, Kaleb & Jacob.  Our kids, Josh and his wife Ashley and Charlotte and her husband Steven will be blessing us with two more grand kids in March. The girls are supposed to deliver within days of each other. We are so excited to get reports of their progress. This grand-parenting gig is pretty exciting!!

I am beginning my 42 year as an employee at NNU.  Most of that has been spent in the Financial Aid world.  This has got to be the best job in the entire world.  The opportunity to be a part of the miracle of financing a degree, at such an amazing school like NNU, is still mind-blowing. I am so thankful for a job that I still wake up every morning excited to get to.  Having great people to work with and to be able to assist families and students to obtain their dreams, is indeed a blessing.
